Season Ticket Holders Barbeque.
It was great to see lots of you there and welcome to the new members who joined on the day. Joe Parsonage, SSSC chairman, made a presentation of a cheque for £7500 to Brendan Thomas the Sale Sharks academy manager. The money was raised throughout the year at SSSC events, thank you everyone, and was donated to the academy to support their tour to Ireland this summer. https://www.salesharks.com/2019/08/07/sharks-academy-in-ireland/
Our last social event was the annual dinner and awards evening in April. The attendance was the highest ever and every table was lucky to have at least 2 players present, some 3. The auction and raffle raised lots of funds and a donation of £200 was made to Josh Beaumont, RPA representative, for Restart, which provides financial, practical and emotional support to ill and injured players both during and after their professional careers.
We are starting to plan for socials in the new season, details to follow when the events are finalised.
We will be asking for expressions of interest after the second week in September for a Fun-bus to London Irish 26/10/19, and to Worcester Warriors 30/11/19, both Gallagher premiership matches. We will not be running one to Bristol on 1/11/19 as it is a Friday night and at the moment we have no plans to run one to either of the away Premiership rugby cup fixtures, Saracens and London Irish. Keep your eye on our Facebook pages and website in September to register your interest, the system worked well last year and allows us to judge if a fun-bus is viable or not. Once we have enough firm interest the bus will be confirmed.
If there any members who would like to join the committee please contact Joe Parsonage or Kim Rothwell, it would be great to have a couple more people join the committee. We meet once a month during the season at a time and place to convenient to all of us, meetings usually last about 1 to 1 and a half hours.
We are also looking for help on match days to help man our table in the tent. This involves taking payment for the Fun-bus and socials, giving out membership and 201 club forms and answering any queries that arise. The time requirement is one and half hours before kick-off until 20 minutes before kick-off. We are hoping to put a rota of helpers together, only 1 person per match is needed, so if you can help it would not be at every home game. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help.
This is one of our fundraising initiatives, it costs £60 per year, payable £15 quartley, with 3 prizes drawn every month, 1st prize £100, 2nd prize £80, 3rd prize £60. It is an easy way to support our fund-raising and as mentioned above we have donated to the Sale Sharks Academy and Restart last season. As well as supporting the academy and a rugby related charity, as a new initiative we are looking at sponsoring 2 members of the Sale 1861 team, who are the ladies team launched by both Sale Sharks and Sale FC in 2018. This season is their first season playing in a league, National Challenge 1 North West, we wish them all the best for the upcoming season. Joining the 201 club would be a great way to support this. Information and a joining form can be found our website.
Looking forward to seeing you at the first home game of the season, Saturday 21st September at 3pm, Northampton Saints in the Rugby Premiership Cup.
